SEATED TWIST~The half lord of the fishes, Spinal or Seated Twist pose, opens shoulders, hips and neck,activating digestion in the belly as it stimulates detoxification of our internal systems.
SUPINE TWIST~ The Supine Twist stretches our lower back and spine, and puts additional pressure on our internal organs, boosting elimination and digestion.
REVOLVED LUNGE~Parivrtta Anjaneyasana or Revolved Lunge is another twisting pose to stimulate our liver. The wringing action of this pose puts pressure on our vital organs, encouraging them to release toxins and waste. Breathe deeply.
TWISTING CHAIR~ Parivrtta Ukatasana or Twisting or Revolved Chair Pose twists and wrings the upper body putting pressure on your kidneys, liver and spleen, stimulating them to release waste. The twisting action encourages fresh blood flow through the organs, pushing out its stale counterpart. The chair pose tones and tightens your thighs, hips and buttocks, call it a bonus, helping us with our other new year resolutions.
FORWARD BEND~ Padangusthasana or Forward bend is a great ending pose that also stimulate the liver and kidneys. It also helps improve digestion and relieve post holiday stress. Breathe deeply and relax into the move. Stay here for as long as you’re comfortable.
